Ernie, get a life dude. You’re an obsessive turd sniffing geekPosted October 10, 2013 3:32 pm
How can Hopkins get away with defending against a fighter like Murat who Cleverley beat easily? Hopkins should retire now if all he’s gunna do is cherry pick opponents until he’s 50.Posted October 9, 2013 7:17 pm
Unify 175 period. Kovalev against Stevenson, Bhop or Shumenov would all suffice. Two of the three would be great action fights. Bhop would be a snorebore but would have historical value. I think Kovalev would beat them all.Posted October 9, 2013 2:17 pm
Kovalev is no Guerrero.., Guerrero can’t punch. He can’t box or defend.. Nathan Cleverly beat Stevenson’s next opponent easily. How crazy is that? Kovalev is the real deal.
The logical fight is the best vs the best… Kovalev-Stevenson
But Boxing seldom gets it right because managers hate risk these days… All these titles mean they can shut you out.Posted October 9, 2013 2:39 am
Kovalev is flavor of the month. Guerrero was flavor of the month a couple of months ago. Look where he is now.Posted October 8, 2013 10:14 pm
Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)
TARK is on Beat Street with that last post.
When Adonis was asked about fighting Kovalev after the Cloud fight, he basically starting mumbling and totally side-stepped the question. Made me believe that he and he team want no part of the Krusher.Posted October 8, 2013 8:20 pm
Kovalev has not yet been tested at the elite level, I don’t think Stevenson is avoiding Kovalev, it’s just that he knows a fight against Bute or Pascal would potentially be the biggest ever in Montreal. I personally think Kovalev would be stopped by Stevenson.Posted October 8, 2013 5:54 pm
Question for TARK – What about Shumenov the WBA champ – the guy who grunts like Jimmy Connors every time he throws a punch? Not that he’d figure to beat Kovalev, but from what I’ve seen of the guy, he looks to be a stiffer test than the over-hyped Cleverly, at least on paper, plus that WBA strap carries way more prestige than does the WBO.Posted October 8, 2013 4:59 pm
Sillahk is at least more than a stay busy fight. The guy’s got skills, but is too exposed for his owngood on offense. Should be interesting, but end in another Kovalev KO.Posted October 8, 2013 2:59 pm
Kovalev is ready to unify.., Stevenson and Hopkins are cherry-picking.
How long has Golovkin been willing to unify the Middleweight Divsion??? As long as Martinez and Quillin have been unwilling. Throw the 3rd rate Barker in there as well. Sturm will probably beat him—but would be stopped in 2 rounds by Golovkin.
Kovalev is running into the same issue.Posted October 8, 2013 2:19 pm
This would be like a car vs a garbage compacter. Kovalev needs to unify 175. He’s ready, let’s go.Posted October 8, 2013 1:58 pm
That all sounds good, but Sillakh is unknown… At least most ardent boxing fans have seen and heard of Nathan Cleverly. So Kovalev is forced to move backwards in terms of opposition. Cleverly was certain he’d beat Kovalev, Sillakh knows it probably isn’t happening. Does Kovalev let Sillakh go the distance to make himself look less dangerous?
It’s tempting.. George Foreman’s managers had him spar with Boone Kirkman, an overhyped, ineffective swinger, but an undefeated guy they wanted to fight. They advised Foreman to let Kirkman win the sparring sessions and fake being afraid of him. It worked like a charm. The Kirkman people wanted to fight George.Posted October 8, 2013 1:32 pm

Bad, bad move for SillakhPosted October 8, 2013 12:31 pm
SUPERMAN first has to get by his mandatory defence with Liverpudlian, BELLEW and they have already lined up either Pacsal or Bute. If he gets past them his resume will look good as his last four bouts will show wins over DAWSON, CLOUD, BELLEW and PASCAL, which is good in anyone’s ledger!
Kovalev should target HOPKINS and perhaps KESSLER (if he wishes to continue) and then these two can meet sometime either late 2014 or early 2015 to become undisputed champion. My money is on Kovalev and in all honesty the division will then be cleaned out.
The unified champion can then target the likes of SOG, GGG and COBRA (if he is still boxing) from the divisions below in big money matches!Posted October 8, 2013 9:11 am
Hopkins and Stevenson should fight Koverlev or be stripped! Can’t stand fake champions.Posted October 8, 2013 4:03 am
Kovalev is being kicked down stairs… Stevenson refused to answer Max Kellerman’s question about whether he’d fight him..
Herron interviewed Stevenson and never asked him if he’d fight Kovalev.Posted October 8, 2013 2:32 am
Kovalev wanted to fight Hopkins, but Hopkins refused. He would love to fight Stevenson. I think Stevenson or Kovalev should fight SOB Ward ASAP!Posted October 8, 2013 2:13 am
