Actually he did leave home. Didn’t he fight Froch in New Jersey or something like that? I would say that that wasn’t Cali.

CoWard was the only one in Super Six to never leave home. That’s a mark on him that will never go away and why he can’t get respect. When he gets a passport and starts beating opponents withoug paid referees and headbutts, then we I’ll eat my words.

Posted May 24, 2013 2:54 pm

he would be even greater if he fought somebody pretty soon.

The Whole “across the pond argument” is usually applied to guys who avoid or did not participate in the right fights because they wanted to fight in some obscure country with 00000 boxing cache like Denmark…. Ward by virtuenofbgje tourney faced everyone worth facing EARLY in the tourney… He was not the favorite and was thrown in the shark tank and turned out to be the meanest shark in there… So now guys wanna create a home court rematch clause for dominated Euro fighters … That’s a joke !!!!! How many guys traded hometowns during fights especially when the first bout was a wipeout??? Ward owns SMW and he is building his name on the American networks, he would be a fool to cave to Kessler or Froch who he took, to school one guy with no experience the other he had a bad hand…

The super middleweight championship is clearly Andre Ward’s. It is interesting to see Froch and Kessler “unifying” titles (one of which is the WBA belt — interesting because Ward is the actual WBA champion), when the real champion has beaten both by large margins. So perhaps Sakio Bika will gain the WBC belt — he too has been thrashed by Ward.

The fans and TV networks correctly assess Ward as the champion. The others are fighting for mere trinkets.

i am french and So am totally neutral but am really surprises that some argue abt how good is ward ? he beat All the best hé could fight in their prime and With incredible ease (Abraham – kessler – froch Dawson) – what more CAN he do ? – i personnally believe that he is better Than calzaghe but one of thèse useless debates for boxers not fighting at same time

Ward is the greatest

Exiled Yank

Ward is the champ, we all know this, he doesn’t need any belts except the Ring belt.

Posted May 23, 2013 10:00 am

Malachi…In your dreams he beats Calzaghe. To rugged ma left stone. Calzaghe beat guys everyway possible. In fact what’s the point even saying anything. If he had been American! he’d be the greatest of all time…. Am jus saying tho!!!

it’s a proven fact that when you not just have god on your side but continiously put him first and let everyone know about it,in this evil world we live in your not going to be that popular but ward is most def the top 2 fighters today and would have beat joe cal in an exciting fight ,he’s to hard nosed and rugged for joe, give my man his props and get over the fact that he’s top of the food chain…yezzzir!

My problem with the Americans attitude to Andre Ward is that they build him up by taking up his opponents only AFTER he’s beaten them. I remember he actually made Dan Rafael’s P4P list by beating Kessler even though Kessler himself was nowhere near the list. Likewise, beating Sakio Bika was held up as some kind of a skills masterclass even though Joe Calzaghe got stick for beating ‘nobody euro bums’ when he beat Bika years before. Ward is probably the best fighter at 168 but there’s only so long you can keep making that claim for when you’re not fighting anyone relevant…..Oh, and to the guy claiming that every fighter dreams of being on US PPV, you’ve clearly never been outside of the states and are delusional as to your importance in the grander scheme

Posted May 23, 2013 7:24 am

you cats across the pond is so envious of ward it’s scary he beat down froch and kessler and made it look like childs play, let it go fellas neither one could call themselves the best without getting past the CHAMP Andre Ward,so please stop with all the clowning…yezzzir!

Joe-Pride of Wales

WBC has a lot Champion emeritus.
Even Mikkel Kessler was the same when he gave up the title after his injury in the super six.
Andre ward, i will first reconize when he has gone to Denmark and meet Mikkel Kessler.
Even Germany will be good a deal but staying home all the time dons´t make him the greatest.
Hometown boy.

Ward is the best SMW in the works this travelling rant is pure bitterness because he easily dominates those stiff Euro fighters… And getting on US PPV IS every same fighters dream eventually, arena money is peanuts by comparison…

Posted May 23, 2013 6:06 am

How did Ward “get a taste of his own medicine” against the tough Bika who roughed up Calzage too??? The man won unlike Kessler who’s eternally bitter and embarrassed that he let a guy with 20 fights take him to school when he wasn’t he favorite…

Posted May 23, 2013 6:03 am

beating Kessler easily did it for me, though watching Ward get a taste of his own medicine against Sakio Bika, was a joyous occasion !

Posted May 23, 2013 4:36 am

when ward beat dawson easily, thats when i started taking him seriously.

Posted May 23, 2013 4:23 am

Darnel Boon KO’d his ass, go watch it on youtube, he’ good but not great,JC would have skooled him.

Bowe did it cause he wanted no part of Lennox Lewis.

All his victories where clear curt. Didn’t need any judges. Even the fighters admitted they lost.

Head Butts and Holds

Get a passport and you might get a name outside USA. No one has heard of you and you can’t fill stadiums. Grow a set, fight the best with out your paid officials and see some of the world. It certainly looks better than the crap hole you live in at the moment.

I agree with you guys real boxing fans put ward #1 p4p., I admire this guy a lot he knows why they don’t give him the credit he deserves and stays on Jesus team big ups to you brother!

Ward is the ring champ and the recognised champ by true fight fans.

Posted May 22, 2013 6:06 pm

Why on earth should Ward have to fight a rematch against someone he fought just a few fights ago and beat handily? Neither HBO nor Showtime would air it, nobody would bid on it, and nobody would buy tickets to see it. The WBC really need to employ more common sense in these situations.

“Andre Ward perceived the WBC Emeritus Champion designation as being stripped of his world title belt.” – Andre Ward correctly interpreted the WBCriminals’ actions. GTFO Sulaiman.

“In my opinion, Ward is the best Super-Middleweight boxer right now”. no need to qualify that post as an opinion. Ward Proved It. he emerged from the Super Six unscathed and undefeated. in fact, the final showdown of that tournament was among the easiest win of his career. Ward IS the best 168lbr and the #1 P4P Heir-Apparent.

In my opinion, Ward is the best Super-Middleweight boxer right now.

Mma fighter

He will be even more motivated when he fights again. You can beat a women shoot at somebody and still be champion . But you get hurt and treat you like dirt .

Posted May 22, 2013 4:07 pm

Ducks nobody, amazing style, can do it all, fights only elite fighters, and a man of Christ yup no doubt Andre ward is boxings p4p champ in reality.

Jose Sulaiman conveniently forgets to mention that Ward has already beaten and outclassed this mandatory challenger.

Andre Ward needs to leave those clowns at the wbc alone, they are all about the money and their own self interests.

in this day and age, who cares enough to haggle over the official title-belts? ultimately, they all have to be earned and defended, which Ward will be able to do once he’s back in action. otherwise, “blah-blah-blah” is right.
