@ Derek – Derek, Johnson fought a very, very powerful- but crude – fighter in Alex Leapai in 2012. Leapai is not skilled but boy can he bang and Johnson simply outclassed him and in this fight with Haumono it was pretty much a carbon copy. Haumono and Leapai are big strong chaps but where both fall down is if they can’t bludgeon their opponents out of the ring they find the going very tough in that they don’t have the base skills to build fights round by round. Instead their approach is primitive in that they rely on brute force and while Johnson is found wanting when he steps up to the next level Haumono is comparatively a step back and that showed in the result. Skills beat hit and hope swingers every time a nut shell.

My $oure$ tell me that Jame$ Toney threw the fight!

Johnson stoppe3d Haumono in the 10th….but so what really?

Boxtradamus Is SRedmond

Browne is just another big , stupid ex MMA fighter with no boxing ability whatsoever.
He should be shot for fighting a 44 year old ex middleweight , even worse the big idiot and his Aussie fans think he is a real boxer.

Bob Boring

Toney/Kimbo would be nice, Toney by early KO

fight scribe – Johnson *should* win but I question his heart after the Fury fight. He outclasses Haumono as a boxer for sure, but is he going to plod his way through this fight or show some interest in the bout?

Get the hell out of here? Toney won?

Posted April 27, 2013 8:10 pm

Lights out needs to go away already, I’ll bet the stands are not even half full when he fights.

Hamono isn’t a ‘pick em’ fight at all. Johnson will box Haumonos ears off before giving him a beat down.

I doubt Haumono can put Johnson down. Vitali couldn’t do that, and Fury barely touched him. Johnson probably loses due to inactivity, like in all his losses. He never throws punches. But if Haumono makes himself an easy target he loses. Browne beats Toney but so what? He has about as much international potential as Sonny Bill Williams.

Browne, raw but too much power. THE GREATEST told you the result BEFORE IT HAPPENED.

Posted April 27, 2013 6:25 pm

Someone should step in and stop this potential murder!

Posted April 27, 2013 5:16 pm

Browne by KO. Toneys past his best, well past it in fact. Browne may be raw and his skills may be rough but he has too much power for Toney. Haumono vs Johnson? Who cares? Neither are exciting, interesting or even periferally relevant to the bigger picture.

I think someone like Anderson Silva, a great striker v Andre Ward or Bernard Hopkins

Really think Toney is gonna do this. Wish to god he never tried mma though. That hurt his image worse than any beating he will ever take in a boxing ring. Guys like Toney and Rat Mercer got beat in mma but I wanna see one of the top boys of mma take on a world class boxer with 10z gloves and over 12 rounds. I think some

@KKK… James Toney was Fighter of the Year twice; in 1991 and 2003. And you claim he has no skills? This bloke has had more than 80 fights and has never been knocked down. His gloves touched the canvas once when he lost his balance fighting Roy Jones Jr.
Toney is a GOAT. One of the best defensive fighters ever. Let’s hope he stops before he gets hurt…

You talking about Samuel Peter sir

Hey Bulger do remember a few years ago the Hype job Nigerian Nightmare I already forgot his name beat Toney’s ass

I need to wipe my Tark better, it itches and smells funky

IntentionalButt You can say they dodged JT, but Vitali did step in against the great Herbie Hyde.

Cya Dont wanna be Ya

Exiled Yank I did laugh at that one. Vegemite sandwich indeed.

James toney is a O.G> in the fight game. He should retire with grace and dignity! I hope this cat doesnt murder him in the ring! Not looking good for Toney!

Posted April 27, 2013 11:20 am

Exiled Yank

Toney was anxious to finish the press conference because he had a Vegemite sandwich waiting for him.

It is scary enough a guy who was fighting at 160 lbs limit once moved up in weight to reach 200+ lbs, but to weigh 250 lbs is simply ridiculous. Imagine Golovkin or Martinez fighting at heavyweight just with 201 lbs, much less with 250 lbs. Toney became a freak show years ago, but can’t realize the fact…

Posted April 27, 2013 8:44 am

Lebedev retired Toney, it’s just Toney doesn’t realise it.

Posted April 27, 2013 7:07 am

Blue Collar

Browne will hammer Toney through the canvas. Haumono is a pick√©m fight. If he lands hard Johnson will go down. Haumono has a bit of glass in that jaw but Johnson probably doesn’t have enough to compromise it. Johnson is experienced enough to win on points. A win by both Browne and Haumono makes for a dream match up of power here in Australia. Then Browne can move onto Europe/ Britain if anyone will man up and take the risk.

Posted April 27, 2013 5:39 am
