The best thing that can happen, for the smw division, is a Dawson victory, which will open the smw division up, with lots of opponents for Dawson, and a Ward taken down from his high horse. I stopped believing in miracles long ago though. It doesnt matter who has the smw belts, a miracle Dawson victory, will open a lot of fights up. Ward may even have to travel:)

I agree with the people here, who say that Ward will win in the ring, he is much faster than Dawson, and outside the ring, the judges and referee will help, because they will allow Wards, tactic. This tactic is jab, hold and get out, try to get something dirty done, just after every stop. This is a precise description of Hopkins. In europe, these tactics will get you dqed, in america, it is used a lot. Look at the latest Dawson picture —he looks like a man, who has been on a diet, and now is tired and drained.

dawson will be at at least 180lbs on fight night, the weight is not a issue, he is way bigger than chavez jr, who cuts more and rehydrates more than he does. jr gets up to 200lbs between fights and fights at 165.
i wish they would have called dawson for the super 6 other than green or glen johnson, who NEVER complained about the weight, dawson would have had some killer matchups

dawson should have trained infighting/clinch sparring, he sometimes gets down on himself if the fight isnt going how it was planned in the gym and he shuts down, his punch output goes down and he looks confused…look at his face in the pascall fight, ward has a gift to make you forget your fight plan, although all of wards fights look the same after the miranda fight, dawson could use that, bika bucked wards knees with a blow behind the ear when he went to clinch, dawsons corner should study that round and build from there.

The Assassin

Please, can anyone tell me, what fight that Ward was in were he has gotten a hometown decision in a fight he clearly lost?

Dawson by TKO between rounds 7&10, Ward is a really great boxer but Dawson will make the best performance of this career! DAWSON/WARD Fight of the Year!, I predict a WAR after round 5

Peej. Was your comment a JOKE.

Anyone tired of this yet. Ward at home once again. The champion rated on the ring pound for pound list without a knockout without hurting a soul against poor oppositon with a record of corpses- really now.

I think that the key to this fight is Dawson’s current weight. If he is already close to 170 and looking as strong and fast as they say, he has a good chance to beat Ward. Dawson has beatne guys like BHops, Adamek and Tarver, whom I think would beat Ward. But we will see just how special Ward is.

Its funny how some folks think Ward is going to get a home town decision. What fight has Ward ever been in where he needed a home cooked fight?

philly shell

I’d bet the bank this one goes the distance. Ward’s too technically clever and physically too fast for Dawson. He won’t let Dawson fight his fight, and Ward will earn a unanimous decision in his hometown.

pascall is strong as a bull, but fights like a ameture, dispite chads advantages he lost that fight badly, until the final three rounds, i think ward is going to take advantage of one of his mental shutdowns, keep him off balance and never really allow him in the fight, just like froch afterwards thinking “what the hell was that garbage i just did” when the fight is over

Dawson is coming to Oakland to get paid, and lose in a boring Ward fight. If this was not sad enough, neither of these guys have any interesting opponents, in the future, to attract the money. I guess the best thing that could happen to Ward, is for Bute to convincingly beat Froch in Canada -the best thing for Dawson is to win, he would then have Kessler, Froch, Bute, Dirrell to attract money. The Lhw division is a sleeping pill. I just can’t see Ward losing in Oakland against a light Dawson. Ward will jab, hold and get out through 12 rounds.

Yes Dawson would have to go to war to beat Ward. No, he won’t do it. That’s not in his disposition. He’s a safety first snorebore boxer who tries to steal rounds and not get hurt. He’ll use that approach and lose a clearcut decision.

It’s Me, Ernie…

Even if Chad knocks him tfo, the best he could hope for is a draw…

if Jean Pascal could DO it to Dawson, Ward who is a much more SKILLFULL fighter than Pascal WILL do it to Dawson. Dawson like everybody else including Froch is UNDERESTIMATING just how good Ward is. Ward will beat Dawson by unanimous decision!!

Originally, I was picking Ward to win but I’m not really sure. This seems like a fight fan’s match. I’m glad this isn’t a PPV and HBO kinda owes it to the fans to show a good fight without having to shell out $50.

Dawson will be the bigger man in the ring, but Ward is the more skilled fighter. Dawson’s mentality would have to be more aggressive in order for him to really use his size to his advantage. Outside of that, Ward will cut the distance to negate Dawson’s reach advantage and win the battles on the inside. SOG on points!

Bad Chad takes this one easily !! Too much reach, fought better opposition than Ward. Anyone he has fought can beat Ward

Posted September 4, 2012 8:06 am

Dawson is fighting at 168. That negates any advantage he could possibly have!! The weight tells you everything in this fight. If it was 175 i think we could have seen Ward’s first defeat. But it aint, so we wont!

Why no articles on the DeMarco/Molina fight :?:

Yet another home town fight for Ward. This fight should have happened on the East coast, MSG,NYC would have been perfect. Dawson’s gonna need a KO unless he’s just turned up for a pay day.

I agree with BoxCraz. I see this being a replay of Ward-Green (even though Dawson is 10x more talented than Green was).
I just think Dawson will get swarmed and then he’ll get tentative, leading to a decisive UD for Ward.

is Dawson fast enough? Ward will chip at the points. Ward win.

Posted September 4, 2012 3:33 am

i think ward will win. dawson is not aggressive enough to beat him.
