21.01.07 - Ricky Hatton returned to the light welterweight ranks in authoritative fashion last night at Las Vegas' Paris Hotel, overcoming Colombian strongman Juan Urango via a wide points decision to once again claim the IBF 140 lb title as well as the IBO belt. Ricky's younger brother Matthew Hatton was also in the winner's circle, showing a heavy right hand in stopping Frank Houghtaling for the vacant IBF International Welterweight title.
Ex-lightweight champion Jose Luis Castillo had his hands full with sharp boxing NABF Light Welter Champion Herman Ngoudjo, but pulled out a split decision victory to set up a hotly anticipated showdown with Ricky Hatton scheduled for June at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Things didn't all go the way of Ricky Hatton during the bout with Urango but "The Hitman" managed to overcome any adversity posed by the reigning champion and found a way to win, even if it wasn't pretty at times.
In Castillo, Hatton will tangle with his most dangerous adversary since the rough and tumble battle with Kostya Tszyu almost two years ago, and a win against the Mexican body puncher would almost certainly lead to a showdown with modern day great multi weight world champion Floyd Mayweather.
