Munisteri Sports Young Heavyweight Prospects
HOUSTON – It was another banner year for Munisteri Sports & Entertainment’s three top heavyweight prospects, Travis Walker (2003 National Golden Gloves Champion), Malcolm Tann (2002 National Golden Gloves Champion), and Raphael Butler (2004 National Golden Gloves Champion). Walker and Tann both went undefeated in 2006, with Walker winning eight fights and Tann winning six.. Raphael Butler, the 2004 National Golden Gloves Champion also had a good year going eight wins and one loss and finishing strongly with six knockout wins in a row, none of which went past three rounds. Butler has already won a fight this year by beating Louis Monaco on January 12 at the Target center to go 9-1 in his last ten fights.

Munisteri Sports & Entertainment President Steve Munisteri stated, “Walker had a fantastic year remaining undefeated at 22 wins and no losses and a draw by beating tough opponents such as Andrew Greely and John Clark, and scoring an impressive win over undefeated Olympian Jason Estrada in dramatic fashion on Showtime on November 17. We are looking for him to fight on Showtime again this Spring against another undefeated prospect. We hope that will establish him as a legitimate top 10 contender.”
Malcolm Tann, the 2002 National Golden Gloves Champion rebounded nicely from surgery and showed his old form in winning six in a row including an impressive knockout win over Derek Berry and a shutout win over Sedrick Fields. “It is my hope that Malcolm will get a step up fight some time this Spring. Chris Arreola called him out about a year ago but now won’t fight him. We hope Arreola and his management change their mind. If not, Tann is prepared to challenge Chazz Witherspoon, Damian Wills, Davon Vargas, Mike Marone, J.D. Chapman, Donnell Holmes, and other top prospects,” Munisteri stated.
All three prospects have at least 22 wins. All have current win streaks going and all are still young enough to make noise in the division. “With Malcolm only 28, Walker only 27, and Raphael Butler just turning 23 two weeks ago, all three are poised to make a lot of noise in the upcoming years. It is my hope that the old guys will step out of the way and the networks will allow some of the young guys to get exposure,” Munisteri stated.
It was a banner year for Munisteri Sports & Entertainment heavyweights in 2006 and the company looks forward to having its heavyweight prospects become contenders in 2007.
