Sulaiman Says...Unification Later, Maybe...But Samuel Peter Is 'Validated' Mandatory
12.01.07 - Michael Marley, Boxingconfidential.com: Dennis Rappaport, promoter of WBC heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev, does not need to sit by the phone, the fax, or his computer waiting for clearance from the organization for a unification title bout against IBF champ Waldimir Klitschko. Rappaport wanted to make Maskaev-Klitschko for April in Moscow. His chances, to use Don King's pet phrase, are slim and none and slim is out of town...I spoke to WBC President Don Jose Sulaiman from Mexico City last night and, like it or not Dennis Rapstar, you will have to comply with your mandatory against two-time James Toney conqueror Samuel Peter..

"I can't speak for all the WBC," Sulaiman said, "but we have a lot of pressure from a lot of people. I haven't made up my mind yet. The Number One contender is validated now having beat Toney twice. There is no reason I can see to put him and his rights aside. I have no objections to a unification bout, to the contrary...I don't believe anyone will want to push Sam Peter aside."
How about Peter-Maskaev in beautiful downtown Lagos?
