Guinn vs. Johnson A No Go

HOUSTON, TX (January 11th, 2007)-The proposed February 16th ten round heavyweight match-up between former heavyweight contenders Dominick Guinn 27-4-1 (18 KOís) and Kirk Johnson 36-2-1 (26 KOís) failed to materialize and has been scrapped due to what Team Guinn calls refusal to fight on Canadian Kirk Johnsonís part..

ďThe date was set, the site had been named and all we needed was the fight, but Johnson punked out and didnít want to fight so the fight wasnít made,Ē explains Guinn, ďhe declined to sign the contract so itís a no go, Iím sorry to the fans who wanted to see me back in action but I will continue training hard and hopefully soon somebody will call my name.Ē

Guinn is coming off a split decision victory over tough veteran Zack Page this past December in his home state of Arkansas while Kirk Johnsonís last bout in March against Javier Mora was changed from a TKO to NO Contest by the California State Athletic due to Johnson dislocating his knee when his foot was stepped on by his opponent.
