15.11.06 By Tony Nobbs: Anthony Mundine (27-3, 21 KO's) warmed up for his WBA "regular" Super Middleweight title bout with a four round knockout over South American Champion Ruben Eduardo Acosta (12-2-4, 1 KO) at Newcastle, NSW, tonight. Mundine entered the ring singing his own rap song (ala Roy Jones Jnr). The bout was fought at a fast pace with the awkward Argentine proving a lively visitor for a few rounds. He threw many punches, had fast hands and caught Mundine with a clean right hand in the third that saw sweat spray..
However, as his knockout record shows, the former WBC Mundo Hispanic 160 lb title holder lacked the power to unsettle Mundine who boxed well within himself, firing back enough to slow his man up before ending it with a beautiful left rip downstairs. All over Red Rover.
Number one contender and former champion Mundine will fight either # 2 Jeff Lacy or #3 Sam Soliman for the vacant strap with his team looking at February-March.
