07.11.06 - By Per Ake Persson: Khoren Gevor has withdrawn - the day before the purse bid was to take place at the EBU office in Rome - from his position as mandatory challenger for EBU 160 lb champ Amin Asikainen. With neither Gevor nor his stablemate at Universum, Felix Sturm, interested in the EBU title it means that the new official challenger for Asikainen will be the man he beat to win the title, Sebastian Sylvester, who´s promoted by Sauerland Event.. Gevor most likely eyes a shot at the WBO title in the near future while Sturm wants a rematch with WBA ruler Javier Castillejo.

There were no bidders for the Spend Abazi vs Domenico Urbano fight for the vacant EU featherweight title at today´s pursebids in Rome. The EBU will reportedly keep the doors open for another few days or so while looking into what have happend as especially Team Palle had expressed an interest in the fight.

EBU supermiddle champ Deviya Gogiya defends the title against Frenchman Jackson Chanet December 2 in Bercy, France, on AMI`s big promotion headlined by flyweight Brahim Asloum. Gogiya won the title from Mger Mkrtchian, who in turn beat Chanet earlier this year.

The WBC eliminator at lightheavy between Stipe Drews and Chad Dawson is off Universum´s show in Berlin December 2 but will be rescheduled for another show.

OPI 2000 promotes in Forli November 14 with middleweight Domenico Spada on top against Frenchman Francois Bastient. Jr middle Tobia Loriga, now signed to OPI 2000, appears on the undercard.

Welter Marat Khuzeev square off against one Tarek Ablazim from Egypt November 17 in St Petersburg for something called the IPBF title. Veteran Alexander Zaitsev appears on the undercard as does welter prospect Denis Shafikov.

WIBF supermiddle champ Natascha Ragosina defends the title against Scroller Carrington from Trinidad on Universum´s big show in Duesseldorf November 18. WBO I/C heavy king Alexander Dimitrenko takes on American Billy Zumbrun while GBU jr bantam titlist Alesia Graf face Heather Percival. Headlining is Ruslan Chagaev vs John Ruiz in a WBA eliminator at heavyweight.
