Spadafora To End Two-Year Hiatus with November 22 Fight in Erie

ERIE, PA (October 23, 2006) – MICHAEL ACRI BOXING PROMOTIONS presents the ring return of “The Pittsburgh Kid,” undefeated former International Boxing Federation lightweight champion PAUL SPADAFORA! Spadafora’s return – his first fight in over two years – will headline Acri’s 22nd annual Erie Boxing Classic, Wednesday, November 22, at The Avalon hotel (16 West 10th Street) in Erie, PA. The first bout will begin at 8 P.M. EST..

Spadafora’s (38-0-1, 15 KOs), ring return is the beginning of a personal quest to win another world title -- this time in the junior welterweight division. He captured the IBF world lightweight title in 1999, upsetting the heavily-favored Israel Cardona, winning a lopsided decision. After successfully defending his world championship belt eight times during his four-year reign, he vacated the title to move up to the 140-pound division.

An undercard will be announced in the near future.

Tickets, which go on sale Tomorrow! Tuesday, October 24, are priced at $60 (Golden Ringside), $40 (Ringside) and $20 (General Admission). They can be purchased at The Avalon Hotel, Dee’s Cigar Store, Johnny’s Sports Bar and Ringside Restaurant.
