Camarena Takes On Ngoudjo

October 21, 2006 - U.S. super lightweight Donald Camarena (18-2 9KO’s) will travel to Montreal Quebec, Canada to challenge the current WBC International and NABF champion and undefeated Herman Ngoudjo (14-0 9KO’s) for his titles. Ngoudjo is rated #3 in the world by the WBC, while Camarena is working his way up in the world rankings and currently stands at #39 in the WBC.. Camarena is also rated #12 by the NABF, #11 with the NABO, #14 in the NABA and lands #15 with the USBA.

Although Camarena will be traveling into Ngoudjo’s home territory, he is no stranger to championship fights. Camarena has won five titles thus far in his career, starting with the Rocky Mountain Regional InsideBoxing crown then adding the Canadian-American-Mexican title. Camarena went on to pick up the more notables WBC World Youth, WBC Intercontinental Mundo Hispano and the WBC Continental Americas championships.

Ngoudjo and Camarena do have a common opponent in Mexican Olympian Jorge Alberto Padilla, Ngoudjo defeated Padilla with a split decision in four, while Camarena took a unanimous decision in 10. In Camarena’s last six contests he has gone 10 rounds five times and 12 rounds once. Ngoudjo’s last five bouts have him going 12 rounds four times and 10 rounds once.

With both fighters being pretty much equal, it looks like we’re in for a great fight!

Team Camarena has been looking forward to fighting Ngoudjo for some time now, both camps have come close to making this match on three prior occasions, on October 28th both will finally step into the ring and face each other.

Camarena has been in training and will wind down in the next few days, Team Camarena leaves to Montreal on Wednesday, October 25th.
