Euro Boxing Roundup: Haye Defends Against Fragomeni On Nov 17th
15.10.06 - By Per Ake Persson: German Jr. middle Marco Schulze outscored Robbie Siebert over six in a non-title fight in Salzwedel yesterday. Schulze will defend the national title November 11 in Oranienburg. WIBFsupermiddle champ Natascha Ragosina was originally defend her title on this show but will now fight in Duesseldorf November 18.
EU bantam champ David Guerault retained the title with a unanimous decision over John Bikai last night (Oct 14) in Dombasle, France. Supermiddle Jackson Chanet outscored Russian Vasily Andrianov on the undercard and welter Nordine Mouchi beat Eugen Stan.
Nice to read that WBA and WBC supermiddle champ Mikkel Kessler digs the Sopranos. Kessler seems to keep the same high class in and out of the ropes. Same canīt be said for stablemate Rudy Markussen, # WBO 1 supermiddle, who blow it all when he fell apart against tough Russian Sergey Tatevosyan. Another supermiddle who had a bad night in Copenhagen was Danilo Haussler, who looked as if he is through as a titlethreat of any kind with his disputed win over Sergey Kharchenko. As for former WBC ruler Markus Beyer retirement seems like the only option.
EBU cruiser champ David Haye defends against Italian Giacobbe Fragomeni November 17 in London in what is also a WBC eliminator. Fragomeni holds a win over Haye in the amateurs.
Hungarian SlimTrax Promotions have female strawweight Krisztina Belinsky defending the WIBF, GBU and WIBC titles November 25 in Mor against American Hollie Dunaway.
Swedes Robert Nordman and Wally Munteanu were on hand in the Parken Arena for Kessler vs Beyer. The two plans to stage the first professional boxing event in Sweden for 37 years when they promote at the Liseberg Hall in Gothenburg January 20. They made some valuable contacts in Copenhagen but the question is still open for what will be allowed. Some are very optimistic but facts remain that the new martial arts laws clearly refers to amateur boxing for guidelines regarding safety.
