06.10.06 - Philadelphia, PA—Undefeated Ramazan Palyani, of Northeast Philadelphia, and once-beaten Ray Narh, of Pittsburgh, PA, meet in a scheduled 12-round contest for the vacant Pennsylvania State Lightweight Championship on Friday evening, Nov. 17, at the New Alhambra, Swanson & Ritner Streets, next to Forman Mills, in South Philadelphia. First of seven fights at 7.30 p.m.

CN8 will televise the Palyani-Narh fight on delay (Nov. 18, 7 pm) to more than seven million homes from Maine to Maryland.

Palyani, 33, recently returned from Georgia in the former Soviet Union where he scored three knockouts in a span of 51 days against fighters with a combined record of 46-2-1. Those were Palyani’s first fights since Dec. 10, 2005, when he boxed a 12-round draw in Rising Sun, IN, with David Diaz, of Chicago, IL, currently the WBC interim lightweight champion.

This will be Palyani’s second fight at the New Alhambra. He scored an eight-round decision there over Isidro Tejedor, of Colombia, on Oct. 15, 2004.

A pro since 2001, Palyani, a lefty, is 14-0-1, 8 K0s.

Narh, 28, is considered one of boxing’s brightest prospects, having compiled an 18-1 record, 15 K0s. He scored his biggest win May 5 in Cathedral City, CA, when he earned an eight-round split decision over another lefty, Steve Quinonez, of Palm Springs, CA. ESPN 2 televised the Narh-Quinonez fight.

In his last fight Aug. 5 in Pittsburgh, Narh knocked out Frank Houghtaling, of Albany, NY, in four rounds.

Originally from Ghana, where he turned pro in 2001, Narh moved to Pittsburgh midway through 2004.
