Williams vs Gammer Set For October 13
14.08.06 - By Mark Pickering: The anticipated meeting between British Heavyweight Champion Scott Gammer and Danny Williams has been set for the Champion’s Welsh homeland. Gammer’s manager Paul Boyce won the purse bid and announced “The Hammer’s” maiden defence will take place on October 13th at the Afan Lido, Port Talbot. "This is easily the biggest fight of Scott's career," said Boyce, whose £63,000 bid secured the rights to stage the bout in South Wales..

The Pembroke puncher captured the vacant title in a ninth round stoppage win against Midlander Mark Krence in June, becoming the seventh Welshman to hold the crown and preserving his perfect record (17-0).
Boyce added: “We've got to make sure he's properly prepared for it. If Scott wins he'll get two voluntary defences against potentially easier opponents”.
Former world title challenger and British champion Williams, 33, was installed as the mandatory challenger to Gammer by the British Boxing Board of Control despite suffering a unanimous points defeat to Matt Skelton last time out.
The Brixton Bomber who sports a 36-5 record including notable triumphs over Mike Tyson, Matt Skelton and Audley Harrison poses the greatest threat to the Welshman’s four-year win streak, undefeated since turning pro in 2002.
Williams conceded his Commonwealth title to Skelton at the Millennium Stadium last month in a lacklustre display, but entertains his status as mandatory challenger to take a tilt at Gammer’s crown and become a two-time British Heavyweight Champion.
