Mosley Beats Vargas again

16.07.06 - By Vanessa McConnell -- photo gallery by CJ Cansler -- The last time “Sugar” Shane Mosley and the “Ferocious” Fernando Vargas met, it took 10 rounds for Mosley to stop Vargas. The shiner left over Vargas' left eye in the first bout was proof that Mosley was determined to put Vargas out of the game for good. On Saturday night, Mosley only needed 6 rounds to prove his point, only this time, Vargas landed on his back. Both fighters gave a slow fight, but the minute Mosley saw a chance to lay a left hook on Vargas, he took it..

With only 40 seconds left in the sixth round, Mosley landed a perfect left hook that smashed into the side of Vargas' head, sending him down to the canvas on his back. Vargas laid there in a daze for 9 counts before stumbling to his feet. The referee cut him a break and let the fight go on, only to stop it soon after when Vargas was overtaken by another flurry of punches by Mosley. Next, Mosley wants to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. and who knows what’s next for Vargas.
