Glenn Donaire Highlights August 5 Undercard at MontBleu Casino

LAKE TAHOE, NV (July 12, 2006) -- NABO/NABA flyweight champion and top-rated contender GLENN “THE FILIPINO BOMBER” DONAIRE will highlight the undercard of “Double Trouble in Tahoe!” – the August 5 world championship doubleheader promoted by Gary Shaw Productions ( at the outdoor pavilion of MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa in Lake Tahoe, NV.. Headlined by the IBF/IBO bantamweight title rematch between Rafael Marquez and Silence Mabuza and the Juan Manuel Marquez – Terdsak Jandarng WBO interim featherweight title rumble, SHOWTIME Championship Boxing will televise both world title fights live at 9 p.m. ET (9 p.m. PT, delayed on the west coast.)

Donaire, (16-2-1, 9 KOs), from General Santos City, in The Philippines, is enjoying a four-bout unbeaten streak. He returns to the ring fresh from winning the NABO and NABA titles via a 12-round unanimous decision over Cesar Lopez, (18-2, 4 KOs), last May in a fight that was nationally televised on Showtime. That impressive victory raised his world rankings considerably, including a career-high No. 2 in the WBO. Donaire will be fighting an eight-round non-title fight against an opponent to be named shortly.

Other prominent fighters on the undercard include undefeated welterweight contender Arturo Morales, (17-0-1, 6 KOs), from Mexico in an eight-round bout; undefeated bantamweight Alejandro Peres, (5-0-1, 2 KOs), from Salinas, CA, fresh from his fourth-round knockout victory of Oscar Blanquet, (7-1-1, 3 KOs), last month, will be in a four-round jr. featherweight bout, and former WBC Continental Americas super flyweight champion José “Pepe” Beranza, (28-8-2, 25 KOs), from Mexico City, goes mano-a-mano with former NABO jr. featherweight champion Jorge “Baby Face” Lacierva, (28-6-6, 19 KOs), from Santa Anita, Mexico, in an eight-round jr. featherweight bout.
