“All I have done in camp is train, sleep and eat. I apologize to my fans for the last fight, but I guarantee you a victory. I am ready for anything Karmazin will bring. I am going to win this fight. I can predict that.
“I know Karmazin is a good fighter and a hard worker. I do not underestimate him. He is a world champion and I can’t take that away from him. As far as him not fearing me, he should because he has never fought anyone like me..
In my last fight against Judah (Feb. 5, 2005), I had to lose too much weight. I was planning on moving up (in weight) but I didn’t. I don’t feel I have ring rust. Boxing is my talent, my gift. No one can teach you that. It is a gift from God. I inherited it. It is a blessing.’’
Kevin Cunningham (Trainer)
“I’m not worried about ring rust with Cory. We did not prepare differently from any other fight. We just prepared longer. Instead of training seven weeks out, we trained 12 weeks and boxed 275 rounds. We did enough to get rid of any ring rust, but that will show in the fight.
“We’re more relaxed in this fight than his last. He is not dealing with personal problems, and weight is not an issue. This will be a spectacular performance and Cory will return with the Spink Jinx in full effect Saturday on SHOWTIME.’’
