Francisco Rodriguez Tops 8 Count Card on July 21

25.06.06 - 8 Count Productions, HOME OF THE BEST IN CHICAGO BOXING, presents the “ARAGON SHOWDOWN” on Friday, July 21st it was announced today by Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count Productions. Joining 8 Count Productions in presenting this outstanding evening of professional boxing is Miller Lite and TCF Bank..

The fully air conditioned Aragon Ballroom is located at 1106 W. Lawrence Avenue on the north side of Chicago. Doors for this event will open at 7pm, with the first bell scheduled for 8pm. Tickets starting at $25 are available in advance by calling 312-226-5800.

Said Pesoli, “This is a great opportunity for Chicagoland fight fans to see future contenders and prospects. Our fans love Rodriguez and are thrilled that he’s coming back to the Aragon. He’s got a real warrior spirit and the fans truly respect him for that. Cloud is a very heavy handed kid from Florida and we’re very happy to have him back.”

Continued Pesoli, “Chicagoland fight fans want to see good matchups and exciting fights and our matchmaker Jerry Alfano has done a fine job as evident by the huge crowds at our events.”

Headlining the “ARAGON SHOWDOWN” is the return of one of Chicago’s most popular fighters, bantamweight Francisco Rodriguez. Rodriguez, 7-1 (5KO’s) will be featured in the eight round main event.

The co-main event of the evening will feature the return to the 8 Count Productions’ ring of light heavyweight knockout artist Tavoris Cloud, 10-0 (9KO’s) of Tallahassee, Florida. Coming off a second round knockout of Anthony Dennis on the 8 Count Productions’ MADNESS IN MARCH card, Cloud will battle in a scheduled eight rounder.

After making his triumphant Chicagoland return this past Friday night, Donovan “DA BOMB” George, 8-0 (6KO’s) will be featured in a special attraction six round super middleweight bout. George, a huge fan favorite in Chicago, thrilled the Cicero Stadium crowd this past Friday night with his stunning second round knockout of Robert Smallwood at the 8 Count Productions “DESTINY” event.

Heavy handed Chicago heavyweight Carl “IRON FIST” Davis, 8-2 (6KO’s) will also be featured in a scheduled six round bout. In his last bout, Davis devastated Joe Johnson with a first round knockout on July 15, 2005 at the Aragon Ballroom.

Newcomer Jeff “THE BIG FROG” Curran, 1-0-1 (1KO) will battle in a four round light weight bout. Curran and Emanuel Hernandez slugged their way to a draw this past April 21st on the 8 Count Productions’ “LIGHTNING STRIKES” event.

In separate four round light weight bouts, amateur standouts Marcos Esquivel and Ashour Esho will make their pro debuts. Much more information on this event will be announced shortly.

Continued Pesoli, “Donovan looked terrific last Friday in his return to Chicago. Also coming off a layoff is Carl Davis and we’re looking for big things from “IRON FIST.”

“We’ve got three newcomers rounding out the card in Curran, Esquivel and Esho in what should be terrific four round bouts.”

8 Count Productions was started by Dominic Pesoli in 1997 and has consistently presented the highest quality professional boxing events in Chicagoland. In 2003, Pesoli along with former featherweight contender Mike Garcia opened JABB Boxing Gym, a 6,000 square foot venue dedicated to the finest Chicagoland boxers of all talent levels.

The weigh-in for this event will take place on Thursday, June 15th at Club Aquarius at 7pm. Club Aquarius is located at 2459 N. Pulaski on the northwest side of Chicago.
