Enzo Maccarinelli Backs Wales For Argy Bashing

16.06.06 - WBU World Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Maccarinelli has backed Wales to give Argentina a kicking tomorrow in the second Test and has promised to follow it up by knocking out Marcelo Dominguez at the Millennium Stadium on July 8. The power-puncher from Swansea will be rooting for his pal and team captain Duncan Jones to lead the squad to victory in Buenos Aires and reverse the 27-25 loss to the Pumas last Sunday - when the Argies were up to their dirty tricks..

"Come on Wales!" Roared Big Mac who has banged out 17 of 24 opponents early.

"I hope the boys do the business over there against Argentina and I will make sure I do a job on Dominguez in Cardiff on July 8,"

"The last match was a really dirty affair and the Argies got away with a lot but our boys stood up to them showing real Welsh fighting spirit and in the end it was a very close game,"

"This time we will be better prepared and I can see us giving them a real good kicking,"

"I hear the latest is that some of our players have been struck down with suspected food poisoning which sounds very iffy to me but I'm sure we will not let that distract us and we will trample all over them,"

Maccarinellli will tackle Dominguez for the Interim WBO World title and a win will see him finally take on title-holder Johnny Nelson who was sidelined from their March clash due to a knee injury.

He continued, "I can't wait to take on Dominguez and give the Argies a dose of their own medicine by knocking him out,"

"It won't be an easy fight because Dominguez is a very tough and hard opponent who has taken on the best at cruiserweight like Johnny Nelson and Juan Carlos Gomez plus he has mixed it in the heavyweights against current WBA king Nikolay Valuev,"

"I'm not taking anything for granted and I'm prepared for a rough and dirty fight if necessary,"

"He's a lot shorter than me and will try and get on the inside but I won't let him get up to any dirty tricks because I will keep him at a distance with a strong and powerful jab that I have been working on relentlessly in the gym,"

Maccarinelli will also extend an invitation to the team to be ringside for his clash against Dominguez.

He added, "The Millennium Stadium is the scene of many memorable Welsh rugby feats like completing the Grand Slam and our first win over Australia in 18 years so I would be honoured if the boys would accept my invitation to be my ringside guest at the show and I will be keeping my fingers crossed for them tomorrow."

Maccarinelli v Dominguez features on a superb six-title fight card that includes the highly anticipated heavyweight rematch between Danny Williams and Matt Skelton and the explosive shoot-out between Gary Lockett and Ryan Rhodes for the WBU Middleweight title. Bradley Pryce defends his Commonwealth Light-Middleweight crown, Tony Doherty and Taz Jones once again square off for the Celtic Welterweight championship and Gavin Rees takes on Martin Watson for the Celtic Lightweight title. The Millennium Stadium will also see the return to Welsh soil of boxings hottest young prospect Amir Khan.
