Mary Jo Sanders captures WIBA jr middleweight title

05.06.06 - By Jeff "Big Bazooka" Linenfelser: Mary Jo Sanders star shines well in Detroit Saturday night as she captures the WIBA jr middleweight title from a previously unbeaten Tricia Turton, the Judges showed a three way total domination on the cards that read 100-90 on all three. In the co-main event, Philly based middleweight Tyrone Brunson takes out Charles Dalton in just 30 seconds of round 1..

On the undercard, jr middleweight Lanardo Tyner ko's Randy Dobbs in the 2nd round, Rafael Hernandez ko's Chester Denson in round 1, Patrick Wesson takes out Jacob Sherard in the 1st round also, as does Vernon Paris over Anthony Ivory. John Battle wins over Marcus Reed in round 3.

Detroit standout Purnell Gates Ko's rugged Veteran Terry Tock in round 3 after the crafty Tock catches Gates with a wild right hand that showed the Detroit crowd that Gates does have a chin as he then rallied for an easy Ko of tock. Tock has been in with the likes of Troy Rowland, Rico Tan, and Felix Sturm !

There was a huge crowd of thousands of die-hard Detroit boxing fans on hand, Promoter Joe Donofrio was very pleased with the turn out and the great fight action that has made Detroit not just the "Motor City", but a great Pro Boxing town as well, "Bravo, Mr. Donofrio"!
