Aaron Williams Gets Sixth Win with 1st Round KO!

17.01.06 - 9-time National Amateur Champion, Aaron Williams registered his 6th win in the pro ranks when he KO’d James Johnson with a vicious right-hand to the body, Friday night in Cicero, IL. Johnson (19-21) was counted out at 2:35 of round the 1st round. The teenage sensation’s Hall of Fame Trainer, Jesse Reid, was very pleased with his young charge’s performance. “Aaron shows incredible maturity and ability for a boxer who’s only 19 years old”, said Reid..

What makes the stoppage so impressive is the resilience Johnson has exhibited in the past against stiff opposition. Johnson took the highly touted B.J. Flores into the 5th, went the distance with former national amateur champion DeAndrey Abron and took 2-time Light Heavyweight title challenger Lou Del Valle the distance.

According to Williams’ managers, Albert Falcon and Patrick Doljanin of Warehouse Boxing, the undefeated Cruiserweight will be back at the Top Rank Gym on Monday as he prepares for his next bout in Ontario, CA, February 17th.

“Albert and I are very pleased with Aaron’s progression”, said Doljanin. “We have an outstanding team and we’ll take our time developing Aaron one fight at a time.”

Said Falcon, “There’s a lot of hard work ahead, but when ring legends like Mike McCallum and Eddie Mustafa Muhammad say Aaron’s something special, it let’s us know we’re going in the right direction. Those kinds of compliments mean a lot.”

Regarding Williams three amateur wins over the highly regarded Matt Godfrey, Doljanin said, “There’s been a lot of talk about Aaron’s three wins over Matt Godfrey in the amateurs. We’re going to worry about Aaron’s career and Matt’s people are going to worry about Matt’s. But I’ll tell you this, if Aaron and Matt ever meet, it will be of Holyfield/Qwai proportions.
