Urango Forced to withdraw from 'Global Warfare' Due to Hand Injury

05.12.05 - HOLLYWOOD, FL – Due to an injury to his left hand, junior welterweight contender Juan Urango has been forced to withdraw from his bout on the December 15th ‘Global Warfare’ card at the Seminole Hard Rock Live Arena in Hollywood, Florida. The injury, suffered during training, will sideline the unbeaten knockout artist for the rest of 2005, and may require surgery. There is no ETA for his return.

“Juan was very disappointed at having to pull himself off this show, but we believe it’s in his best interest to have him heal up and be ready for a championship run in 2006,” said Leon Margules, Executive Director of Warriors Boxing Promotions.

Urango (16-0-1, 13 KOs), is the current WBC Latin American, NABO, and IBF Latino 140-pound champion. He is ranked fourth in the world by the WBC and IBF, seventh by the WBO, and 14th by the WBA.

The “Global Warfare” main event, top heavyweight contender Samuel “The Nigerian Nightmare” Peter returns to the ring for the first time since his epic battle with Wladimir Klitschko in September to face tough Robert Hawkins in a ten round contest.

In the co-featured bout of the evening, imposing heavyweight contender Lance Whitaker lives up to his desire to fight only the best in the world when he tackles unbeaten Russian bomber Sultan Ibragimov in a bout that will undoubtedly produce a future challenger for one of the four world champions in boxing’s glamour division.

Also featured in separate bouts will be unbeaten Irish sensation John Duddy, top cruiserweight contender Dale Brown, and rising stars Michael Marrone and Jesus Pabon.

Tickets are on sale now for “Global Warfare”. They are priced at $150, $100, and $50. For more information please call 954.523.3309 or visit
