Froch fights Dodson on March 13th - Must get past Adamovich first this Friday

27.01.04 - Nottingham’s Carl Froch will challenge British Super Middleweight champion Tony Dodson on Saturday March 13th at the Nottingham Arena. The BBC covered Hennessy Sports event will also feature former two-times WBO heavyweight champion Herbie Hide, the rematch between Damon Hague and Roddy Doran for the WBF middleweight title, David Walker, Lee Meager, Matthew Thirlwall, Lenny Daws, Ryan Rhodes and Wayne Pinder.

“I am going to give Dodson a boxing lesson,” said the 26-year-old Froch.

“He is a good operator, but he has never been in with anyone with my skills before.

“I am going to have too much power, too much speed and too much variation for him. There are too many attributes to my game; I will definitely stop him.”

The Nottingham Forest fan is understandably excited at returning to his local venue.

“It’s going to get noisy in there,” continued the 'Cobra'.

“The previous two times I won at the Arena were atmospheric enough, but the fact I am fighting for the British Title on a Saturday night big-time BBC slot with a fantastic undercard will bring even more of my fans out.

“Everyone knows that I have always wanted the Lonsdale belt.

“It is one of the most prestigious and is respected the whole world over. It also represents the first major step on the traditional path that I will follow: British, Commonwealth, European and then World titles.”

First up, however, Froch has to deal with Dmitry Adamovich - a useful operator from Belarus who last fought in October against Robin Reid.

The eight rounder takes place this Friday, (30th January), at the Goresbrook Leisure Centre on the undercard of Howard Eastman’s European middleweight title defence against Russian Sergey Tatevosyan.

“I always enjoy boxing on the same shows as Howard, he is class act,” continued Froch.

“I have heard that this Tatevosyan is a bit of a tidy operator so it should make for a good fight, but he won’t be able to live with Howard.

“No-one can, he is the best middleweight in the world: a technical power puncher. When he gets going with those 10oz gloves on there is no stopping him.”

Carl Froch takes on Dmitry Adamovich on Friday 30th January at the Goresbrook Leisure Centre in Dagenham. Howard Eastman tops the bill against Sergey Tatevosyan. The rest of the Hennessy Sports team – including Lenny Daws and Matthew Thirlwall – also feature. For tickets please call 020 8815 4028. For the latest bill please visit www.HennessySports.com . The weigh-in will take place this Thursday at Albany House, 18 Theydon Road, London, E5 9NZ at 3pm.
