On Thursday he completed 8 torrid rounds of sparring with WBA regular Middleweight champion Maselino Masoe, who is preparing for a fight with Felix Sturm. It must be said that the two fighters could have charged admission, such was the quality and intensity of their work. "I've sparred 28 rounds over the past three days and I've never felt fitter. You saw yourself, when we were sparring...the entire gym stood still and watched! Ray Joval is in for a tough time come the 27th."
Taylor also worked with promising Australian Super-Middleweight Les Sherrington. "It's great to spar some of these young kids. I remember sparring Jeff Fenech when I was only 16, the buzz is something I'll never forget. The young guys keep you on your toes and you never stop learning in the ring!"
When questioned about Joval (34-4, 15 KO’s), the "Bulli Blaster" was animated. "He's in a lot of trouble. I've been doing my road work, and my training in the gym has been sensational. Sparring guys like Masoe, who's a big puncher, has been ideal. My body is a lot more comfortable at 160lbs. I feel so much stronger at the moment. My weight is spot on, just where it should be. I'm going to knock Ray Joval clean out, no problem at all... out!"
