World Boxing Council News

September 5, 2005 - Mexico City. From WBC President Jose Sulaiman: "All of the members of the 161 nations affiliated with the World Boxing Council join in extending their empathy to the people of the U.S.A. for the tragedy that hurricane Katrina has created in the historic and traditional city of New Orleans and on the Mississippi and Alabama coasts.

"I am inviting the world boxing community and all WBC members in the 161 affiliated nations to make donations, as modest as they may be, to the International Red Cross for the victims of this incredible force of nature.

"The WBC, in all modesty and humility, would do anything necessary to be a part of helping so many people suffering from this tragedy."
