Mayweather Mauls Gatti

25.06.05 - By Jim Amato: It was no contest. It was utterly brutal! The blood and guts of the game Arturo Gatti hopefully have been spilled for the last time. In a totally one sided affair. Floyd Mayweather Jr. IS a great fighter. This kid has so much potential it is down right scary. Gatti was the perfect foe for Floyd to showcase those talents. Arturo had the name and the popularity but was not and probably never was in Floyd's class..

Mayweather gave an exhibition that a prime Sugar Ray Leonard would envy. As good as Floyd looked, there are still some questions. Can he handle the strength and pressure of Ricky Hatton ? If he fights Kostya Tszyu, will he be able to handle the power or will he be shocked like Zab Judah was ? How would he fare against Miguel Cotto? Time will tell but for right now Floyd is #1 at 140 pounds.
