Mirovic Looking to prove doubters wrong against Calloway on June 24
19.04.05 - By Matt Clark Australia's 'Big' Bob Mirovic faces the sternest test of his career when he meets the man dubbed the 'All American Prize Fighter', Rob Calloway on June 24. The Jamie Myer promoted bout, which takes place at Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast, will be contested for the vacant WBF World Heavyweight Championship. Should the experienced 39 year old Mirovic capture the title against the younger Calloway, 35, he is rumoured to be the next opponent for the legendary Mike Tyson.. The former undisputed heavyweight champion is now trained by Australia's three time champion Jeff Fenech.

Myer believes that both fighters are aware of the importance of the bout and are desperate for victory. "If Mirovic wants to establish himself in the heavyweight division and fight the likes of Mike Tyson, he needs to look impressive on June 24th. Rob Calloway has been hounding me everyday on the phone from the US and can't wait to get into the ring. It's going to be a fantastic fight!".
Mirovic who boasts a record 25 wins; 14 losses; 2 draws; 16 KOs, will be looking to prove the doubters wrong against the powerful Calloway who has compiled an impressive record of 53 wins; 5 losses; 1 draw with 41 KOs.
The yet to be finalised undercard will feature current Australian super bantamweight champion Frank Demilo, former Australian light heavyweight champion Jamie Guy,current Queensland middleweight champion Stephen Ng, 2004 Olympian Jamie Pittman and promising local super middleweight Les Sherington. Another highlight of the night will be the pro debut of former Brisbane Bullets and Gold Coast Rollers Basketball star John Segeti, who stands 6 ft 8 and weighs 120kg.
