Kell Brook wants Amir Khan in three tights time

by Rupiardi Mukkakakila: Rising welterweight star Kell Brook badly wants Amir Khan up close and personal, but he believes he needs three fights to prepare. The Sheffield-born star, son of a local butcher, has told the boxing media that he wants Amir Khan to come up to welterweight, where Brook is waiting with wrapped up two gifts - his fists. The undefeated challenger has been lobbying for bigger fights for a while now and after his recent performances, no one can doubt that he deserves one.

Brook, a rising star in boxing, has won every single boxing match he has ever thought in, making him a cute prospect and a one to watch. Khan, however, has not even indicated that Brook is on his radar, as the Bolton-born star is preparing for a world title fight with Danny Garcia. This means that a Brook – Khan meeting in the ring of punishment will not happen soon, more likely Brook will need to put a few tremendous wins under his belt, as well as score good points. There is a lot of competition at 149 and Kell will have to beat off some big men to get himself noticed. As it stands, Khan is not paying Brook any attention. Brook really needs to flutter his eyelashes in his next fight.

Brook himself has a fight coming up, an IBF eliminator against former-street magician Carson Jones. This is a fight that Brook is expected to win, however nothing is sure in boxing, as we recently saw when Timur Gimaev scored a unanimous decision over Denys Tupylenko. Jones is ranked #3 in the IBF welterweight ratings, and has built up a solid 34-8-2 record. Recent wins over Allen Conyers and Ricardo Williams Jr have set tongues wagging.

The subject of a Khan vs Brook fight is one that has been talked about before on the British boxing scene, because it is a match that would sell-out any arena it was put in. Khan's name in the UK is massive, he is probably the most famous boxer in the country. Brook is building up a following in the North West of England, as witnessed in his last fight against Matthew Hatton, where 20000 tickets were sold at the Sheffield Motorhouse Arena. Although the fight was expected to sell well, nobody had any idea that tickets would go as fast as they did. It meant that Brook's name is growing in the UK, and it means that a future Khan fight is not entirely unrealistic for him.

Eddie Hearn, Kell Brook's promoter, has yet to make a comment on a future Khan fight, and nothing has been heard from Khan himself. At this point, all the talk has come from Brook, a proud man who is doing his best to further the advancement of his own welterweight career in boxing. One thing is for sure; Brook needs to use his fists to defeat Carson Jones on July 7th and get himself in position to win a glorious boxing world title.
