Pavlik: Iíll beat Carl Froch; letís do it on HBO or Showtime

By Michael Collins: Former WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (38-2, 33 KOís) says heís interested in facing IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KOís) and as long as the fight is held on Showtime or HBO. Pavlik thinks heíd beat Froch.

Pavlik said to esnewsreporting.com ďIíll beat him. He beat Bute but heís known for not having a good chin. Letís do it As long as you get HBO or Shotime, yes."

Pavlik went on to say that he had picked Bute to beat Froch, but he wasnít that surprised that Froch got the win because he feels that Froch is ďReal sharp.Ē

So would Froch be interested in facing Pavlik? Probably not right now unless he canít get someone like Mikkel Kessler in the ring. If Froch canít get a fight against Kessler, then Pavlik is definitely a good possibility of Showtime or HBO would be on board. Pavlikís last fight against Aaron Jaco wasnít televised on either network, and his fight against Scott Sigmon on June 8th wonít be shown as well. It may take a big named opponent like Froch for Pavlik to get back on one of the two cable giants.

Pavlik and Froch both have similar brawling styles. Froch is more of a counter puncher, while Pavlik is arguably the bigger puncher. It would be interesting to see which of the two fighters back off first. I canít see Froch trying to run Pavlik over the way that he did Bute. That would be playing into Pavlikís strengths. Froch doesnít have the hand speed to flurry on Pavlik and get away with it like Sergio Martinez did in his win over Pacvlik in April 2010. Froch would definitely know heís in a fight if he chooses Pavlik. I think itís a great fight.
