David Price On The Road To Glory - Full Fight Video

DAVID PRICE has proven that he is the future of the world heavyweight division. The 6ft 8in scouser’s stunning fourth round stoppage of Sam Sexton to lift the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles on Saturday night earned him rave reviews. Price and his team are now eyeing either a summer clash in the United States or a British title defence on home soil. Promoter Frank Maloney said: “We know David has an impeccable amateur pedigree, but to do a job like that on Sam in only his 13th professional fight was special.

“The only other person to beat Sexton was Dereck Chisora and I will let those who turned up at Aintree and watching on television decide who was the most impressive against him.”

Price, 28, had hoped to meet Tyson Fury for the British and Commonwealth crowns, but the Manchester Gypsy refused to meet the man who beat him during his amateur days.

The new champ and his team will meet this week to discuss potential opponents over the coming months.
Maloney added: “There are some credible British opponents who would be decent opposition and there has been interest from America for a while..

“Whatever decision is made will be in David’s best interests and nobody else.

“People might have dismissed David’s comment when he said he could become world heavyweight champion by his 20th fight. That doesn’t look a bad prediction now.

“He could most probably earn his chance quickly, but it is about becoming world champion and having a long reign.”
