Kessler stops Green in four!

By Michael Collins: Fighting for the first time in 11 months, former WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (45-2, 34 KO's) took out American Allan Green (31-4, 21 KO's) in the 4rh round on Saturday night to win the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver light heavyweight title at a packed house at the Parken in Copenhagen, Denmark. Kessler put Green down with a huge left hook to the head in the 4th round to get the knockout win and to claim the vacant WBC Silver light heavyweight title.

Kessler was surprisingly knocked down in the opening round after getting hurt by a nice right hand from Green and then knocked down by a clubbing shot. Kessler was dominating the majority of the round until the knockdown. Kessler came back in the second round, hurting Green badly with a left hook to the head late in the round. Kessler almost finished Green but missed with a nice left hook that would have put Green down had it connected.

In the 3rd round, Kessler landed well with left hooks and right hands to the head, hurting Green again with another big left hook. Green pretty much stopped throwing punches and just circled the ring looking confused and more than a little shell-shocked at the change in tempo in the fight..

Kessker came out throwing jabs in the 4th round and caught Green with a big left hook to the head at the start of the round. The shot connected to the chin of Green, knocking him out cold on the canvas.
