Mayweather-Cotto Another Pay-Per-View Blockbuster; Replay Saturday, May 12 on HBO

May 11, 2012 – NEW YORK -- HBO Sports® reported today that 1.5 million pay-per-view buys were generated from the May 5 super welterweight title fight between Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The fight was promoted by Mayweather Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions..

The 1.5 million buy total generated $94 million in pay-per-view revenue.

The performance of Mayweather-Cotto ranks as the second highest grossing non-heavyweight pay-per-view event in boxing history. No. 1 all-time is Mayweather’s record-setting showdown with Oscar de la Hoya ($137 million) in 2007.

Mayweather owns a perfect 43-0 record as a professional prizefighter.

Mayweather vs. Cotto along with the co-feature of Alvarez vs. Mosley will replay exclusively on HBO Saturday, May 12 at 10:15 p.m. ET/ PT.

It’s a special edition of WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING when HBO Sports presents FLOYD MAYWEATHER VS. MIGUEL COTTO AND CANELO ALVAREZ VS. SHANE MOSLEY, the exclusive replay of two compelling world title fights, SATURDAY, MAY 12 at 10:15 p.m. (ET/PT), exclusively on HBO. The HBO Sports team, which was ringside for the live coverage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, calls all the action, available in HDTV.

Other HBO playdates: May 13 (10:00 a.m.) and 14 (11:30 p.m.)

HBO2 playdates: May 13 (4:45 p.m.) and 15 (12:05 a.m.)

Mayweather, one of the sport’s most celebrated superstars, and Cotto, a reigning super welterweight titleholder, matched up Saturday, May 5 in boxing’s first mega-fight of the year, carried live on HBO Pay-Per-View®. In a rousing showdown that had fans in the arena on their feet, Mayweather scored a unanimous decision victory.

Leading off the telecast is the exclusive replay of the intriguing super welterweight title fight between rising star Canelo Alvarez and future Hall of Famer Sugar Shane Mosley. Alvarez successfully defended his 154-pound title for the fourth time in this bruising matchup, also carried live on HBO Pay-Per-View that evening.

The boxing studio show “The Fight Game with Jim Lampley” makes its series debut immediately following the replay (midnight ET/PT).
