Saul Alvarez vs. Shane Mosley on Saturday; Estrada-Gonzales on 6/29

Saul Alvarez is widely expected to become a Mexican legend, but the flame haired kid insists he’s in no hurry for greatness. He makes the fourth defence of his World Boxing Council (WBC) light-middleweight title against three-weight world champion Shane Mosley on Saturday’s colossal ‘Ring Kings’ card in Las Vegas.

The bill which can be seen live on BoxNation is headed by the biggest fight in the world this year, when Miguel Cotto risks his World Boxing Association (WBA) light-middleweight crown against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Alvarez, 21, has been linked with a clash against Mayweather, but says: “I have a big career ahead of me.

“There are a lot of good fights to be made and a lot of good fighters out there and some good young fighters coming up.

“We were going to make a deal to fight Mayweather, but it didn’t happen. I hope we will meet someday. But for now I am only thinking about Shane Mosley.”

Alvarez who is undefeated in 40 fights won the title when he outpointed Manchester’s Matthew Hatton in March 2011 and stopped another Englishman Ryan Rhodes in his first defence.

He added: “I think Shane Mosley is a very seasoned fighter and I am preparing for him at his best.

“He still has power, but I don’t think he has anything to beat me although I know I have to dominate and look good winning.”
