"I really think he has the potential to become world champion," said Emanuel.

Robert Diaz, (Marco Antonio Barrera's Team Manager) Had these great words to say about Jose: "A little over a year ago we brought Jose in to work with Marco, for about 3 weeks to prepare Marco for his fight with Manny Pacquiao.

He showed us lots of potential. We were impressed with his skills and great work ethic, Jose is a wonderful kid, and can go far in the featherweight division."

Jose's father said that sparring with Barrera, one of boxing's most respected and feared fighters in the featherweight division boosted his confidence as a fighter. It also showed Barrera's people what kind of kid Jose is when they were having trouble finding good sparring partners for Barrera. Jose stuck in there and did his job very well.
