Mitchell Keeps Heat On Arthur And Doc

04.04.05 - Even though Alex Arthur and Craig Docherty battle it out for the British and Commonwealth Super-Featherweight titles in Edinburgh this Friday, they will be keeping an eye on a young man who is closing in on them...fast.. Kevin Mitchell, the supremely talented youngster from Dagenham, will feature on the undercard in a six-round contest at the Meadowbank Stadium as he prepares for his Southern Area title challenge later this year and then a potential British title shot.

For Mighty Mitchell it will be a welcome return to Edinburgh after his appearance last October on the Joe Calzaghe-Kabary Salem World Championship card at the Royal Highland Showground.

Getting as much big-fight experience as possible, he followed that with a slot on December's big Ricky Hatton-Ray Oliveira bill at the ExCeL in London Docklands to bring his record to an impressive 12-0 with 9 KO's.

"I can't wait to get back into the ring no matter where it is," said the exciting 20-year-old.

"The Edinburgh crowd gave me a great reception last time and I'm looking forward to getting back into action and giving the fans a real show although I know it will be different if I ever fought Arthur here,"

"The year is mapped out for me and if Arthur or Docherty still hold the belts then it wouldn't bother me who had them; it's up to me to go and beat whoever's got them,"

On the big all-Scottish clash, Mitchell predicted: "Arthur by KO in the later rounds,"

"I think that Docherty is too easy to hit and Arthur's accurate and more powerful punching will be the deciding factor,"

"It will be evenly matched in the early rounds as they feel each other out but I think Arthur will come on top in the later stages with a stoppage from the ninth round onwards."

Billed as 'FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE!', Arthur-Docherty headline a superb card that also features rising Edinburgh welterweight hot-shot Gary Young, Edinburgh bantamweight Scott Flynn, Coatbridge super-featherweight Ricky Burns, Glasgow welterweight Colin McNeil, Arbroath light-middleweight Barry Lee plus London heavyweight John McDermott and Welsh middleweight prospect Kerry Hope.
