A winner of 27 in-a-row, Mormeck (30-2, 21 KOs) faces his WBC counterpart, undefeated Wayne Braithwaite (21-0, 17 KOs), in an early anticipated cruiserweight world title unification bout Saturday on SHOWTIME at 11 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast) at Worcester, Mass..
If triumphant in the division’s first unification bout since Evander Holyfield defeated Carlos De Leon in 1988, Mormeck will become the first boxer in any weight class from France to be a unified world champion.
"For me to become unified champion would be a very big accomplishment," Mormeck said. "This kind of opportunity would never happen if this fight was in France. That is one reason why I chose to come to the United States. This is where the challenges are and I am always ready to take on new challenges.
