By Adrian Hernandez: Leading up to the Top Rank special event at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX, on February 4th, most of the media attention has been focused on WBC Middleweight Champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Three Division World Champion Nonito “Filipino Flash” Donaire.
Although both superstars are favored going into fight night, their respective opponents feel confident that they will indeed pull off the dramatic and surprising upset.
Since losing his previous title opportunity to Kelly Pavlik in 2009, Marco Antonio Rubio (53-5-1, 46 KOs) has impressively put together 10 consecutive victories, 9 of them by way of knock-out.
On the attached video interview conducted by The Pugilist KOrner’s Joseph Herron, the 31 year old title challenger feels ready to shock the world and become the new WBC Middleweight Champion:
Although the young Puerto Rican native came up short in his last title effort, Wilfredo Vazquez Jr (21-1-1, 18 KOs) is exuding confidence as he goes into the most important fight of his young career. This Saturday night, the former WBO Super Bantamweight Champion will get the opportunity to pull off the massive upset against one of the biggest stars of boxing, Nonito Donaire (27-1, 18 KOs).
