Bernd Boente Says Vitali Will Fight Again In February Or March; Says The Opportunity For A Haye Fight “Is Still There”

By James Slater: With news of David Haye’s retirement barely hours old, Vitali Klitschko’s manager Bernd Boente is already talking about Haye making a ring return to face the World Boxing News (WBC) king early next year.

Boente was speaking live on Sky Sports News moments ago, and he made two things clear: Vitali Klitschko will fight again in February or March, and Haye is still in the running as the opponent.

“Adam Booth always told me that he would retire on his 31st birthday,” Boente said on the subject of Haye. “And will definitely come back if there is a fight against Vitali or a rematch against Wladimir. This opportunity is still there. I think it depends on the business case. Adam and I spoke five minutes ago and we are in confident contact. We are waiting for some numbers from British TV and then we will see if the business case is realistic.

“We can do the fight, or Vitali will fight another opponent in February or March of next year. We have to move quickly because if the fight is in February-March, then we have to do the first press conference before Christmas. This way or that way, Vitali will definitely fight February or March, whether against David Haye or someone else.”

So, the Vitali-Haye grudge-fight could still happen after all! But is Haye now set for hanging up the gloves? (see below article regarding Haye informing The BBB of C how he will not be wanting his licence returned)

Or will Haye sit down and think about things, realise a crack at Vitali is too precious to turn down and accept whatever offer the WBC champ and his team offer him? Experts everywhere are currently tossing in their two-penneth with regards to whether or not Haye should walk away - and it seems the majority think Haye would be making a mistake if he went out a loser, without first trying to restore his reputation.

We all agree: a win over Vitali would make Haye a hero again!
