Price never received offer to fight Fury

FRANK MALONEY has insisted that NO offer was made for David Price to challenge British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. The promoter was amazed to read Fury’s comment that Price’s camp had turned down an offer to face him in Belfast this weekend.

Maloney said: “I never received any offer in writing or verbally from Tyson’s promoter for David to face him on Saturday night.
“I saw Tyson quoted saying David had said ‘no’ to the Belfast fight, but that is rubbish. Nobody has been in touch.
“I can only imagine that Tyson’s promoter was dreaming he made the offer and got a little confused.”

Olympic bronze medallist Price (11-0) who defeated Fury when they were amateurs is still on a collision course to face him early next year.
The scouser boxes John McDermott (26-7) in a final eliminator for Fury’s British crown at Liverpool Olympia on Saturday November 19 which will be televised live on Sky Sports.
Maloney added: “In fairness I would have turned the offer down if it did exist unless it was a staggering amount.

“If David comes through Big John I want to promote the fight against Fury myself as it will become a level playing field and go to purse bids.
“I know what it is worth and if David is still unbeaten after November 19 I will be bidding big to stage it in Liverpool.”
The full undercard for the Liverpool card on November 19 will be announced over the next two weeks, but tickets are now on sale.

Youngest USA Female Promoter Debuts Sept. 30 In Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA—Battle-tested welterweight prospect Ray Robinson fights at home for just the second time in his career when he faces Manuel Guzman of Lancaster, PA, in the scheduled eight-round main event Friday evening, Sept. 30, at the National Guard Armory in Northeast Philadelphia.

The Robinson-Guzman bout is part of history, making Brittany Rogers (President of Bam Boxing Promotions Inc.) the youngest female in the United States to promote a fight card. First of eight additional bouts begins at 7.30 p.m.

Rogers is a student at Temple University, finishing up her last semester as a Sport and Recreation major. She is 22 years old and making her dreams come true.

"Russell Peltz and Maureen Sacks, of Peltz Boxing, have given me the opportunity of a lifetime by taking me in as an intern in late April,” said Rogers. “They have taught me so much over the last few months and have guided me through this great experience of promoting my first show."

The last time Robinson fought in his Philadelphia backyard was in 2008 when he out-boxed Jason Jordan, of Akron, OH, over four rounds. Since then, Robinson has been seen on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights as well as SHOBOX. He has tested himself by facing tough opposition in Eberto Medina, Darnell Jiles Jr., Harrison Cuello and world-ranked contenders Brad Solomon and Shawn Porter.
Robinson (11-2, 4 K0s) dropped decisions to Solomon and Porter, both of whom are undefeated. Solomon, who beat another Philadelphian this year, Demetrius Hopkins, is ranked No. 1 in the world by the WBA. Porter is No. 3 in the WBO world ratings. Robinson will be coming off a 14-month layoff and the southpaw is anxious to get back in the ring.

Guzman (7-12-2, 3 K0s) has boxed several area fighters, including Latif Mundy, Daniel Sostre, Bayan Jargal, Jamaal Davis, Jeremiah Wiggins, Sadam Ali, Ronald Cruz and Alex Perez. Guzman’s most impressive win was his second-round knockout over Ardrick Butler, of Philadelphia, PA, in July of 2010.

Tickets priced at $65, $50, and $40 are on sale at the offices of Bam Boxing Promotions (215-280-6709), Peltz Boxing Promotions (215-765-0922). They also can be purchased online at All of Bam’s food-concession proceeds will be donated to the Fox Chase Cancer Center.
