July 11, 2009, at the age of 37, Gatti was found dead in his apartment in Brazil. Since that day, there have been many speculations, accusations, and of course assumptions. Some suggested that his wife was at fault, others that drugs had finally taken their toll on the champion, while some though it must have been a suicide that took Gatti away from his friends and family.
Finally, the people, his family and friends, and last but not least his fans will get to hear the reality. I think that the truth will put Gattiís family and friends at peace, no matter how unpleasant it might turn out to be.
Gatti is well known for his incredible and history making trilogy with his former rival, then turned best friend, Micky Ward. Together, they shook the boxing world three consecutive times, solidifying their clashes as some of the most memorable moments in boxing history.
I have heard of many people worrying that if the investigators were to come up with unpleasant information, it may very well ruin his name and boxing legacy. Personally, I donít think that anything should influence the respect and love that Gatti has rightfully earned from the boxing world for his dedication to the sport and his fans.
