This writer met Ouma recently at the weigh in for the Bernard Hopkins vs. Howard Eastman fight. "The Dream" said: "Tell Shannan Taylor I will knock him out, in Australia, as long as the purse is right." It appears that the purse is right, as the fight has been reported in all Australian newspapers.
Taylor, who recently stopped Ruben Diaz in 3 rounds on the Robbie Peden vs. Nate Campbell under card said he was excited at the thought of fighting Ouma. "I watched him fight (on television) and I wasn't impressed. I can't wait to get him in the ring."
The fight will mark an amazing turnaround in the life and career of Taylor. He found himself using cocaine after his career took a turn for the worse after the Mosley fight. After being defeated a further two times, he got his life back on track with the help of businessman/promoter Tony Carradona. He now finds himself in the position of being one fight away from owning the world title so many thought he should have had, a long time ago.
