Mitchell vows to rip Murray apart; Cruz-Carrasquillo on Friday; U.S. District Court Denies Mayweather Jr. Emergency Appeal; Fury-Chisora on 7/23
Kevin Mitchell has vowed to rip John Murray apart when they meet on July 9 at London's ExCeL Arena. With just over a week to go before the fight, Mitchell has upped the war of words between the two fighters.

And he says although there is mutual respect between the two protagonists for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Intercontinental lightweight title, all that will now disappear.
"Whenever we've been in the same room as each other, we've been polite," said Mitchell.
"But it's time for all that to stop.
"The fight is just around the corner, and I've got my fight head on now.
"When I get in that ring I am going to rip John Murray apart.
"He's standing between me and a world title fight and I want to knock his head off.
"I plan to be throwing bombs as soon as that first bell goes.
"When I come head-to-head with him next week at the final press conference I'm going to front him up and tell him that I am going to knock him out.
"I truly believe that is what will happen in our fight.
"I've never felt in better shape, and I am so far ahead of where I was going into the Katsidis fight.
"My training camp has been spot on, and Murray is in for a shock next week. There will be no more Mr Nice Guy outside the ring, and definitely no Mr Nice Guy inside it."

Ronald Cruz vs. Doel Carrasquillo on Friday
Ronald Cruz, who has built his reputation mostly in Philadelphia and Atlantic City but now, gets to display his talents in his hometown as he has compiled an unblemished mark of 12-0 with nine wins coming via stoppage.
Among those wins was a (til this point) career defining six round beat down of highly touted prospect Jeremy Bryan on October 30, 2010 in a bout that was seen live all over the world on www.gfl.tv.
Cruz has stopped his last five opponents including his bout when he became the first man to stop twenty fight veteran Manuel Guzman in round three of their scheduled eight round bout.
Doel Carrasquillo has a record of 15-17-1 with thirteen knockouts but that doesn't tell the story as he has fought anybody and everybody.
The litany of fighters that he has fought is long and Carrasquillo has pulled off many upsets that has caught more than one eye of the boxing world. Just ask the mega-prospect, Dennis Douglin.
On February 18th, Douglin took on Carrasquillo in what looked on paper to be an easy win for Douglin. One problem, Carrasquillo didn't get the memo as he shocked the fighter known as the "Da Mama's Boy" and scored the third round stoppage which shocked many boxing insiders. Like Cruz, Douglin entered the ring with a 12-0 record.
Douglin isn't the only one to feel the power of Carrasquillo as he has scored upsets over Kenny Abril (5-2-1); Isam Khalik (13-0-2); Tony Caldwell (9-2-3); Darren Fallen (10-3-1); Aaron Torres (14-5); Wayland Willingham (13-0) and Jorge Melendez (13-1).
"When you look at the records it looks like a typical cross roads fight", said Marc Abrams, who will be calling the action ringside on www.gfl.tv
"The only problem with calling this a cross roads fight is that Carrasquillo is still driving on the same side of the street with these major prospects. Besides all those upsets, even his losses have been to the top guys and he has given those guys hell. We did the fight with (former world title challenger) Mike Arnaoutis and he beat him to the point where Mike's face looked he had been in a war. All I need to say is this, this is the most dangerous fight of Cruz' career. If he gets by this test, he will be sneaking up with the likes as Mike Jones as promoter Russell Peltz next big star" A full seven bout undercard will be shown as undefeated Middleweight Rashad Brown looks to make it 5-0 when he takes on rugged Omar Sims in Brown's first six round bout.
Undefeated Ronald Cruz faces rugged intrastate rival Doel Carrasquillo for bragging rights as part of a seven fight card on Friday, July 1, at the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem PA. Bouts start at 7:30PM EDT.

U.S. District Court Denies Mayweather Jr. Emergency Appeal
LAS VEGAS, NEV. (June 30, 2011) – U.S. District Court Judge Larry R. Hicks denied the Emergency Appeal filed by Floyd Mayweather, Jr. for a protective order to prevent his court-ordered deposition, finding that Mayweather's motion was "without merit." Mayweather's deposition had been scheduled for June 17, 2011, in Las Vegas, Nev. Mayweather refused to appear.
Judge Hicks' decision affirmed Magistrate Robert Johnston's order denying Mayweather's motion for a protective order to prevent his June 17 deposition.
"Floyd Mayweather, Jr. still is refusing to show up for his deposition. He continues to defy the Court's Order," said Pacquiao's lawyer Daniel Petrocelli
Mayweather is being sued by pound-for-pound champion and Congressman Manny Pacquiao based on Mayweather's defamatory statements accusing Pacquiao of taking performance-enhancing drugs.
Fury vs. Chisora on July 23
Wembley Arena to be treated to a Real “Gill” Experience.
“The Phil Gill Experience” on undercard of Fury vs. Chisora.
London (30th June 2011) “The Phil Gill Experience” will be in action on the undercard of “The Big Brawl” event live from Wembley Arena on Saturday 23rd July.
The main event features the British and Commonwealth Heavyweight title fight between undefeated challenger Tyson Fury and champion Dereck “Del Boy” Chisora.
“The Big Brawl” presented by Hennessy Sports, will be shown live and exclusively in the UK on Channel 5.
“I’m over the moon to be on the bill” said Phil. “There’s been some great British fights at Wembley Arena over the years, the likes of Cooper, Conteh, Minter, Magri, Bruno, Lewis, Honeyghan and they’ve have all brought Wembley Arena to life, I’ll be making sure I do the same.”
The former Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineer who’s toured in Kosovo and Afghanistan has been juggling a day job alongside studying to be a personal trainer and has racked up 10 wins since turning pro in March 2009. “I keep myself in great shape. I live and breathe boxing and I’m always ready for a phone call so I never stay out of the gym for more than a few days between fights.
“With working full time as well as studying it’s hard to get sparring as most pros train during the day, but my preparations for this fight are going to plan, most of the work we have left to do is just fine tuning. I would normally arrange sparring with Lee Purdy and a few of his stable mates but my next opponent is a southpaw so we had to look elsewhere, so I’m sparring with some lads who are looking to turn pro at the moment, they have similar styles to the guy I am scheduled to fight on the 23rd.
The light welterweight from Waltham Abbey is relishing the chance to shine in front of a large crowd at Wembley Arena “It’s a massive opportunity for me to shine in front of thousand’s, the crowd will experience something purple!” added Gill “I don’t come to look pretty, I come to win at any cost, I’m value for money and I’m never in a dull fight!
“I’m a fighter with a big heart and I feel that’s my biggest strength as well as my mental toughness.
“I’m out to make a statement that I belong on big shows like this and that I can perform to the highest level. I’m grateful to Hennessy Sports for the chance to showcase what I'm all about.
"It's time I announced myself on the big stage, just don't blink!!!"
