Ahmet Patterson aims to put on a show

Unbeaten Ahmet Patterson will put his street-dancing skills to good use - by becoming Britain's biggest crowd pleaser since Naseem Hamed.

The London welterweight made a fine start to his professional debut in October last year.

But while it was his work inside the ring that caught the eye back then, he'll go one step further in his next fight.

Patterson, of mixed Carribean and Turkish heritage, will make his second pro appearance at Bethnal Green's York Hall on February 19.

And he will utilize his street dancing skills to good effect in his ring entrance.

Patterson had planned to have two gorgeous girls accompanying him as well - but he's decided to thrill the crowd on his own.

"I used to love the way Chris Eubank and Naseem Hamed came to the ring," said Patterson.

"They realised that boxing is all about show business, and I do too.

"I've been a street dancer in my time, and I'll be showing the fans what I can do on my way to the ring.

"But there's no way that I'll be spending more time planning my ring entrance than what I'll do against my opponent.

"My dancing is a bit of fun, but I'm deadly serious about my boxing, and the day I get distracted is the day I pack it in.

"I was pleased with my debut last autumn, but there were a few areas I need to improve on.

"There's a lot more to come and I boxed at no more than 20% or 30% of my potential back then."

Tony Bellew headlines the card when he defends his Commonwealth Light-Heavyweight title against Ovill McKenzie with the vacant British title on the line.

Chief support is Southern Area Heavyweight Champion Larry Olubamiwo defending his title against John McDermott.

2006 Commonwealth Games champion Jamie Cox returns to action, as does 2007 World Amateur Champion Frankie Gavin.

Ronnie Heffron, Vinny Mitchell, Bradley Skeete, Ahmet Patterson, Billy Morgan and Freddie 'Luke' Turner complete the card.
