Flores vs Green Official

Eugene Carnachan - Danny Green and BJ Flores met today in Australia to officially announce a bout that will take place in Greens home town of Perth on November 17th. At stake is Greens IBO cruiserweight world title. Eastsideboxing broke the story yesterday.

Danny Green needed a legitimate contender given his last outing capitulated into a thirty second debacle when once renowned warrior Paul Briggs hit the canvas after taking what appeared to be a glancing left hand. In picking the undefeated Flores as an opponent Danny Green is looking to reestablish his reputation as Australiaís premiere pugilistic draw card..

Green opting to fight a fully fledged Cruiserweight with Flores pedigree will help reestablish his formidable domestic fan base. A win will too improve his international stock.

At todayís meeting it was abundantly obvious Flores is the much bigger framed man and come fight time Green could be facing a weight disparity of around eighteen pounds.

Flores who turned pro in 2003 initially did so as a Heavyweight. Flores however saw greener pastures in the Cruiserweight division so dropped down to chase a title shot.

That shot has come. This must be very gratifying for Flores given he has campaigned long and loudly for a title shot.

Flores hasnít fought in over a year but has kept in gym work as a sparring partner for John Ruiz, David Haye and Chris Arreola. That last two being noted punchers.

Flores at thirty one years of age is in his fighting prime and will come in well conditioned and ready and he will have to be as Green at age thirty seven has one of the best training ethics in world boxing and fighting in front of a patriotic home crowd Green will be one helluva proposition for Flores.

News of this contest has being well received Down Under.
