Tommy Karpency Crushes Jackson

In his first bout since losing a competitive 12 round decision to top ranked light heavy Karo Murat (22-0), WBA#14 light heavyweight Tommy Karpency rebounded Friday night with a one-sided destruction over late sub Julius Jackson at the Wheeling Isle Racetrack and Casino in Wheeling, West Virginia. Karpency (20-2-1) controlled the fight with superior skills, power punching and effective combinations dropping Jackson with a right/left combination at the conclusion of the opening stanza. Jackson failed to answer the bell to start the second. Karpency's manager, Pat Nelson, stated, "Tommy looked extremely sharp tonight and is not only 'in line' to fight WBA champ Beibut Shunenov (9-1), but also matches up very well with fellow southpaw and WBO champ Juergen Braehmer (36-2).."

In other action, Karpency's younger brother, Jeremiah, raised his professional mark to (2-0) via a four round unanimous decision over a game Jeremiah Williams (0-5) who was dropped twice. Scores were 40-34.

Light heavy Dan Shull (2-10) ended his losing streak with a TKO over Mike Davis (0-6) at :49 of round 3, while heavy Lee McGinnis (2-0) earned his second win by KO over beginner Antonio Henderson at 2:59 of the first round.

Local jr. lightweight Ronell Green (6-0) looked impressive as he outclassed Quincey Johnson (0-6-1) winning a four round unanimous decision by scores of 40-36 twice and 39-37. The show was promoted by Jerry Thomas' West Virginia Sports Promotions and boxing will return to Wheeling Isle on October 23rd.
