Cotto stops Foreman in 9th
By Harold Kupelle: Miguel Cotto (35-2, 28 KO's) had too much power for WBA junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman (28-1, 8 KO's), getting the better of him with power shots and then stopping him in the 9th round with a hard left to the body. The fight was stopped at 0:42 by referee Arthur Mercante Jr. Foreman injured his his right knee in the 7th round. Following the injury, Foreman was almost helpless, limping around the ring and taking big shots from Cotto the whole time. Incredibly, Foreman's corner allowed him to continue to fight even though he was almost helpless. The fight was finally stopped after Cotto dropped Foreman with a hard left to the body in the 9th. Overall, Cotto looked good but he was facing an opponent without much offensive firepower and the injury to Foreman's knee made it that much easier for Cotto. With the WBA junior middleweight title now in Cotto's possession, he can use the belt as bait for Manny Pacquiao to go after his 8th world title.
