Frank Maloney has called for Rendall Munroe fans to create an intimidating atmosphere for Victor Terrazas..Munroe meets the dangerous Mexican in a WBC super-bantamweight world title final eliminator at Coventry Skydome on April 23 in the toughest test of the Leicester binman's 21 fight career. Promoter Maloney said: "Rendall has been fighting in the first division of British boxing and it's time to step him up to the Premiership. "Leicester City are on the brink of the Premier League and Rendall is as close to world title glory..

"The venue holds just over 3200 fans and so far we have sold two thirds of the tickets. We need this to be a sell-out to show that Rendall has reached the big time and can be classed alongside the biggest names in Britain.

"A packed crowd will intimidate the Mexican and act like an extra fist in the ring on what is the biggest test of his career so far."

Southpaw Munroe's manager Mike Shinfield also believes that the fans will make a huge impact on the night.

He said: "He's never fought outside of Mexico and like all football managers say, we need the crowd to be the extra man.

"When things are getting tough the crowd can help you though it. When Rendall has 3000 of his mates cheering him on, he will always dig that little bit deeper."

The show also features a bumper undercard including Olympic Bronze medallist Tony Jeffries and a host of local talent.

Munroe vs Terrazas

VICTOR TERRAZAS and his camp believe they have nothing to fear by facing Rendall Munroe in England. 'The Viking' is locked away preparing for his WBC world super-bantamweight title final eliminator against Rendall Munroe on Friday April 23. Mexican star Terrazas, 27, is preparing for the tough 12 rounder in his hometown Guadalajara and will arrive in Britain ten days before the fight. He is managed by Edison Reynoso and promoted exclusively by top Mexican outfit HG promotions.

Reynoso said: "Victor's confidence is rocketing and he is getting better with every fight.

"Although he has won some titles, Victor has been a little bit behind some of the top Mexicans in terms of image.

"His promoter Hector Garcia has worked hard to get him up the rankings and secured an excellent purse for this fight.

"Fighting outside of Mexico is no problem because we generally do that with other fighters we train like Oscar Larios."

Terrazas (25-1-1) is unbeaten in seven years, and suffered the sole loss of his professional career on his paid debut when he was knocked out inside two rounds by Adrian Tellez.

In May 2007 he got revenge on Tellez, when he stopped his rival in seven rounds.

The only other blemish came on Victor's eighth professional fight when he drew with Saul Osana.

He is currently hitting harder than ever with six of his last seven wins coming inside the distance.

Tickets are on sale, prices £30, £50 and £70 by logging onto or by calling 0871 226 1508. Boxers on the bill will also be selling tickets.

TONY JEFFRIES wants to land his first professional title by the end of the year.

The Olympic bronze medallist has fully recovered from a spate of injuries and returns to action at Coventry Skydome on Friday April 23.

'Jaffa', 25, will be bidding to stretch his unbeaten record to six when he tackles tough Welshman Nathan King on the bill being televised live by Sky Sports.

Jeffries said: "It would be nice to have an English title belt by the end of 2010, but it is a slow process and I am still learning.

"The injuries meant that I haven't boxed since December so the aim is for Frank Maloney to keep me busy."

Sunderland's favourite sporting son has just returned from a week sparring with WBC super-middleweight champion Carl Froch.

Jeffries added: "I got to know Carl well after we did a television show recently and the sparring was fantastic.

"Working with soemone like him only added to my desire to become a world champion. His dedication is fantastic and I learnt so much being around him."

Promote Frank Maloney said: "Top prospects like Tony and David Price will learn more from quality sparring than anything else.

"There are not many better fighters in Britain than Carl to learn from."

King's 12-15 record might not be impressive, but he owns one of the sturdiest chins in British boxing

He has fought numerous champions and in December went the distance with Olympic gold medallist James DeGale.

Top of Maloney's blockbuster bill is Rendall Munroe's WBC world super-bantamweight title final eliminator against Mexican star Victor Terrazas

The winner is guaranteed a crack at Japan's formidable world title holder Toshiaki Nishioka later this year.

Tickets are on sale, prices £30, £50 and £70 by logging onto or by calling 0871 226 1508. Boxers on the bill are also selling tickets.
