Alexander takes out Urango in 8th round TKO!

By Ken Neir: WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (20-0, 13 KO's) IBF light welterweight title holder Juan Urango (22-3-1, 17 KOs) tonight in an 8th round stoppage at the Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut. It was a fight that was supposed to be competitive. However, Urango, a big puncher, didn't have the ability to keep up with the quicker and younger Alexander. For seven rounds, Alexander basically toyed with the slow moving but powerful Urango. Finally, in the 8th round Alexander got serious and put Urango down with an uppercut to the head. Moments later, Alexander finished Urango off with a fast flurry of punches to knock him down again. The referee stopped the bout at 1:12 of the 8th. With this win, Alexander captures Urango's IBF light welterweight title.

Other boxing results on the undercard:

Ryan Coyne UD 8 Paul Jennette
Angelo Santana TKO 4 Darien Ford
James Hope UD 4 Andres Navarro
Wayne Braithwaite KO 1 Adam Harris
Derric Rossy UD 12 Zack Page
