Happy Birthday Freddie Roach!

HOLLYWOOD, CALIF. (March 5, 2010) – WORLD-FAMOUS FREDDIE ROACH hit the big Five-Uh Oh today. “Fifty, it’s the new 49,” said Freddie as he entered his boxing laboratory also known as the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California today. Named Trainer of the Year by the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) an unprecedented four times and the trainer of 27 world champions, Freddie is also boxing’s No. 1 pound for pound goodwill ambassador..

Freddie will be spending the day doing what he loves to do most, working with his fighters, including Fighter of the Decade Manny Pacquiao who is preparing for his world welterweight title defense against former world champion and current No. 1 contender Joshua Clottey. THE EVENT: Pacquiao vs. Clottey will take place Saturday, March 13 and will be produced and distributed live on HBO Pay-Per-View from the $1.2 billion Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, where over 35,000 tickets have already been sold.

Roach’s morning will be spent on the phone doing a series of interviews around the country, ending with The Jim Rome Show at 1:35 p.m. ET / 10:35 a.m. PT. Santa Anita will also be feting Roach, on Sunday, March 7, where he will take part in the winner’s circle ceremony, presenting the trophy for the afternoon’s feature race -- The Joe Hernandez Stakes.
